FanGap: Twilight hunk ROBERT PATTINSON turned to acting after his father convinced him it would help improve his love life.

The 22-year-old is among Tinseltown's hottest new stars, thanks to his lead role in cult vampire franchise.

But he may never have been an actor at all, had his dad not pushed him to try his hand at London's Barnes Theatre Company - so he could hang out with girls.

Robert Pattinson says, “(My dad) saw a bunch of pretty girls who were going to it. (He) said: ‘Hey Rob, you’ve got to go to that.’ That’s the reason I still do it!”

As hundreds of die-hard devotees flocked to get their DVD copies of the super-successful book-turned-cult-movie autographed yesterday, Kellan Lutz (who plays the brother of heart-throb Robert Pattinson in the film) revealed teenage girls aren't - surprisingly - the ones to look out for.

"It's the mums who are the most full-on, I think some of them actually make their daughters stay home," Lutz told Confidential yesterday.

"And, bless their hearts, they come in these big groups and battle to give us the best presents, (like) candy, picture frames, flowers, baskets of stuff."

But it's not like the 24-year-old hasn't been bombarded by female fans, with some sending "scandalous" pictures and even attempting to chain themselves to his arm.

"They will come up and be like, I'm going to hand-cuff you," he said.

Perhaps it's just collective wishful thinking on the part of Twilight fans everywhere, who would just love for the romance between Edward and Bella leap off the silver screen and into real life. Unfortunately, says the film's hunky star Robert Pattinson, it's just not meant to be for him and on-screen gal-pal Kristen Stewart.

"It becomes a joke," the dreamy-eyed Brit tells
Entertainment Tonight in an interview slated to air on Friday. "There was some magazine the other day about me and Kristen and when you look at it and realize it's on the front of a magazine… You realize that people are actually reading that even though how ridiculous it is. It's really bizarre."

Twilight-Gossip found Charlies police car in Vancouver!

Exciting news, Twilighters! USA Today just published the first official photo of the Quileute werewolf pack from “New Moon.” The four actors featured in the photo are Chaske Spencer (Sam), Alex Meraz (Paul), Kiowa Gordon (Embry) and Bronson Pelletier (Jared) — all have some Native American heritage. Though we got a glimpse of a few of Jacob’s friends in the first movie, the characters will have a much bigger role in the sequel, as Bella gets very close to Jacob after Edward’s departure.

In case you haven’t heard the news, the director of “Eclipse” has been officially chosen. And my own personal first thoughts when I heard the news? Well, I have like a million of them.

I’ve interviewed David Slade before, and he’s a very smart, charismatic guy who harnesses some immense filmmaking tools. That said, I definitely thought “30 Days of Night” was a disappointment. It had a lot of fatal flaws in it, usually whenever the blood would stop flowing and it was time for us to actually start caring about the characters. “Hard Candy” also flirted with moments of brilliance, but I still feel like Slade’s best work is ahead of him.
